World Book Night – 23 April 2012

I was happy to be chosen as a Book Giver for World Book Night 2012–and then I was happier when I actually gave the books out. I provided “The Book Thief” by Markus Zusak, a book narrated by Death during Nazi-occupied Germany that features a girl who discovers a way to access books. My twist on the book-giving concept was to provide copies of the book to Public Allies AmeriCorps members who could choose to keep the book if they normally don’t have access to books–or could provide books to people in their lives who don’t normally access books.

Below is a picture of us with the books. (Note of disclosure: I write and edit for Public Allies, Inc. and thought this would be a great way to connect with the AmeriCorps members on some off-time.)
